I love this video a lot because it just reminds me how life should be enjoyed, filled with laughter and fun. We need more laughter in this world :p

Hi, as usual, I suddenly have urges to update my blog after months of inactivity. I just recently remembered how much I've been ignoring my LJ when there are so many new stuff happening in my life now. My good old loyal LJ, I've had it since 4th year high school? God, it has been that long time ago. I feel so old now... but I'm happy that I still have it and its still alive, somewhat. I'm quite sentimental about stuff from my past. Anyway, going to make quick updates.
First and foremost... I am now living in San Francisco, and have been since the beginning of this year. I'm taking up a second bachelor's degree, this time a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Animation. Going to have to back up a lot to give the whole story of how I ended up here. This is going to be quite long despite being already shortened.
Well, I've been here for about 2 1/2 months now. School is really tough but I'm really learning a lot. Not only am I growing in terms of drawing and animating skills, I'm growing a lot personally as well. I'm living by myself in the sense that I'm away from my family. Its a huge change. I remember being kinda holed up in my room for the first week because it felt so strange and scary going out by myself. I always had a friend or a family member with me whenever I went out. Eating by myself felt very strange too. It gave me the strong realization of the stuff that I have taken for granted when I was living with my family. But I adjusted gradually and I'm much happier with myself now as I'm learning and growing to be more independent, something I definitely wouldn't be doing if I didn't take action and was still back at home.
That's long enough for now. Will update more soon, hopefully

Your result for The What Middle Earth race do you belong to Test...
Wizard
You scored 0% Size & Strength, 71% Morality, 47% Aggression, and 71% Intelligence.

You scored high in morality and intelligence, but lower in physical strength and aggression, which means you're probably a Wizard. Counted among the very wise and (with that one exception) good creatures of Middle Earth are the Wizards, or Istari. Though they appear as old men, the Istari are actually powerful Maiar spirits sent from Valinor to Middle Earth to act as caretakers of the land and guides to men and beasts. Their supernatural heritage means they're also the only line of defense against rogue Maiar like Balrogs. Though only Gandalf, Saruman and Radagast are named through the novels, there are two other Wizards at large in Middle Earth, quietly working to bring tranquility to their surroundings.
Your polar opposite is the Urûk-Hai.

So it went like this...
Me and my brother were quietly eating breakfast
Papa: "Did you pray yet?" (we have a family altar)
Brother: "Not yet, I do it after breakfast"
Papa: "Papa does it before breakfast. you know why? to show sincere. You are not sincere. You know how sincere papa is?"
Brother: (giving him what he wants to hear) "10 times more sincere than me"
Papa: "Yes, and I will be 10 times more blessed than you"
A simple "pray before breakfast is better and shows more sincerity" would have been suffice you @hole. You don't need to put down others just to tell them something. Damn, ALL of his lectures are like that, its always he is better, we are all just failures. He likes to ask us questions just to tell us we are wrong and his answer is right. He is just sooooo stuck-up up there! I don't bother answering him so much that he has stopped making me answer. His questions are always shitty.

Reliable Realists are down-to-earth and responsible-minded. They are precise, reserved and demanding. Their most prominent quality is reliability and they will always make every effort to keep any promise given. Reliable Realists are more quiet and serious persons, they do not talk a lot but they are good listeners. They sometimes seem reserved and distant to outsiders although they often have a great deal of wit and esprit. Their strong points are thoroughness, a marked sense of justice, doggedness bordering on pigheadedness and a pragmatic, vigorous and purposeful manner. Reliable Realists do not dither about if something has to be done. They do what is necessary without wasting words.
This personality type not only expects a lot of himself but also of others. Once Reliable Realists have set their mind on something, it is difficult to persuade them otherwise. They do not like to leave anything to chance. Planning means safety to Reliable Realists, as well as order and discipline. They have no problem respecting authorities and hierarchies but do not like to delegate tasks. They are certain that others would not deal with them as conscientiously as they do. In management positions, they are very task-oriented - they make sure that things are well done; however, they do not have a great deal of interest in personal contacts at work.
In relationships too, Reliable Realists are reliability itself. As partners, they are faithful and consistent, well-balanced and sensible. Security and stability are very important to them. They have little time for extravagances and flightiness. Whoever has them as friend or partner can rely on them for a lifetime. However, it takes quite a while for Reliable Realists to enter into a relationship or friendship. They have little need for social contacts; they therefore take great care when choosing partners and friends and limit themselves to a small but exclusive circle which meets their high demands. They tend to show their closeness to people who are important to them by deeds - their partner should rather not expect romantic declarations of love.

The charity concert was organized by my brother and was held at Kublai's last friday night. For a charity concert, it actually had quite a lot of big name bands like Hale, Rivermaya and Sponge Cola. It was pretty cool, a lesser popular (probably just for me since I live under a rock) band that I actually liked a lot was Mayonnaise. Their guitarist was awesome. We arrived at 9pm, it was pretty late but its okay, we only missed one band. Bands kept arriving late so the current bands had to stall in order for the next band to be ready, they end up singing 2 or 3 more songs than intended. THe concert stretched and finally ended around 2:30am. It was all good though (not so much for my sister who had to get up at 8:30am that day).

I was surprised that the vocalist of Hale suddenly approached our table after being constantly mobbed by girls to have their photos taken with him. Well he was part host of the night so he was being nice and doing a bit of everything, talking on the mic, stamping people's hands, signing autographs, etc. We also asked if we could take a picture with him since he was already talking with us :p

And my favorite, Yael from Sponge Cola XD I've always wanted to attend a Sponge Cola gig and I finally got the chance at this concert. He really sings well, much better than I thought. Its really cool to watch Sponge Cola live. We had to approach him to take the picture. Sponge Cola was the last band to perform and by this time, my sister was impatient and really wanted to go home. She pretty much approached him after the performance and introduced me >< even mentioned that we were batchmates in ADMU. Well at least we got a pic :p

Pensive Rider Color by ~lin-jay on deviantART
I haven't linked my last few drawings here since most people who check my LJ also have a DA account but I'll post this one because I'm so happy with it. Its my first fully colored work with a pen tablet, which I just bought earlier this year. I gave up on colors long time ago because I thought I suck at it but I got inspired and wanted to learn after seeing what a friend of mine could do with photoshop. I didn't think you could create such beautiful creations with photoshop. Anyway, with some tips and help from people at Holy Cow and my old teacher from Artfarm, I came up with this. It looks so professional that I can't believe I actually made it.
Wow... just wow....

I've always kinda wanted to cosplay though I'm really too shy to do it and I have no idea on how to make a costume. I'm sure I can think up of something about the costume so the problem is more on the shyness part but I thought that I should at least do it once in my life lol Whats a doable character that is suitable for me to cosplay?
Any tips my cosplayer friends? Where can I find out schedules of cosplay events?

1. All utility bills are paid at any 7-11 store. You just give your bills to the cashier, the cashier scans the barcode on the bill like any normal item and then pay. It is that fast and simple. Also, aside from cellphone bills, most bills aren't monthly. They are usually billed every two months or so.
2. A standard dating system used in Taiwan bases the year counting from a certain point of Taiwan history (not exactly sure what, will write more details when I find out about it). So when you look at expiration dates and it says 97 under year, don't panic, its not 11 years expired. It actually refers to 2008.
3. The government has a lotto-like program where every official receipt, which has a serial number, has potential to win cash prizes. It goes something like if the number announced matches the last three numbers of your receipt, you win 200NT. Thats why you see donation boxes are also filled with receipts instead of just cash.
4. Taiwan is quite environmentally aware. Many shops, especially convenience stores, don't give plastic bags (unless you pay for one) and many people bring a canvas bag with them when they go shopping.

I think it got me down pretty accurately..
Portrait of an ISFJ - Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging
The Nurturer
As an ISFJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you takes things in via your five senses in a literal, concrete fashion. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit into your personal value system.
ISFJs live in a world that is concrete and kind. They are truly warm and kind-hearted, and want to believe the best of people. They value harmony and cooperation, and are likely to be very sensitive to other people's feelings. People value the ISFJ for their consideration and awareness, and their ability to bring out the best in others by their firm desire to believe the best.
ISFJs have a rich inner world that is not usually obvious to observers. They constantly take in information about people and situations that is personally important to them, and store it away. This tremendous store of information is usually startlingly accurate, because the ISFJ has an exceptional memory about things that are important to their value systems. It would not be uncommon for the ISFJ to remember a particular facial expression or conversation in precise detail years after the event occurred, if the situation made an impression on the ISFJ.

My first animated scene. Everything is done by me, sketching, clean up, in betweens, scanning, coloring, compositing, etc, with lots of help from the people at Holy Cow animation. I'm really happy and proud at how it turned out. Even though it only runs for about 5 seconds, it took me near two weeks to do it, hopefully my pace will improve and I can complete my short soon.

The trailer for the animation project of Imee Marcos is finally finished and uploaded. My old teacher from Artfarm Asia has been slaving over this project for months. Anyway a funny story first before the video.
Conversation on yahoo messenger
Juno: Yey! the trailer for the project is finally finished!
Me: Weeee!! I want to see it :p
Juno: Sure sure
Me: By the way, what is the series called? I never knew its title even after all this time.
Juno: Fly aswang (not my idea)
Me: >.>
Me: seriously..... it sounds so bad
Juno: Imee read what you wrote, she's standing right behind me lol
ROFLMAO!!! I was embarrassed and couldn't reply other than just laughing. Thank god for hiding behind a computer screen and thankfully, apparently she agrees as well but said that they couldn't think of a better one and it was already deadline. Anyway, here's the trailer.
My old teacher did the coloring of the backgrounds, they're incredible. I don't like the opening dialogue lol Animation seems choppy but that could just be because of the low resolution and youtube. Have to see the real thing to admire the actual animation
( Another animation project )

I've been getting quite pudgy lately (actually for quite a while already) and not getting any exercise as usual. My brother invited me to go boxing training with him. The idea doesn't really appeal to me but he said it was a good workout and a good way to lose weight. I was also worried about my drawing hand lol Anyway I gave it a try last thursday. The punching stuff was actually okay but the stretching and the abdominal exercise was brutal lol The trainer (who is gay thankfully since it would be very awkward if it was a guy guy touching me) was pushing my arms and legs way out of their comfort zone. I wanted to cry uncle at some point lol But despite the pain, it actually felt good afterwards. My body didn't ache all over the next day though my belly did. I couldn't support my body if I leaned back just a little lol but its good, I feel the nice feeling of having my abs worked out. I have quite a belly XD I really want to make it flat, hopefully I will be successful to do so and get some results after a few weeks of training.

Hehe its a nice valentine's day this year, first time I received a bouquet. JP gave me a rose once before but I never really expect to receive any flowers. I'm so used to to seeing others receive beautiful bouquets of flowers (usually my sister) that I was surprised that it was addressed to me.
It was certainly a special surprise. Whats funny is that yesterday, JP called me to say that I call him before I leave Holy cow. I thought and suspected that maybe he is coming over to surprise me, making me call him to make sure I don't leave the building before he does. When the time came, I called him but he didn't pick up. After about 30mins and a few more calls, I decided to go home. In the car, I called again and this time he picked it up. I asked him why did he want me to call him and he just said he wanted to know when I left the place, you know, just worrying. Okay, I believed it. Today, when I came home to eat lunch, I was surprised to see a bouquet of flowers on my bed. After reading the card, I called JP. Hehehe turned out that he really did wanted to surprise me yesterday by coming to holy cow with flowers but he was hit with traffic and rain so he couldn't do it. Haha my suspicions were right after all.
Anyway, picture with the simple bouquet :D

I got a very positive feedback from my old animation teacher from artfarm after I showed him my latest works. I'm so happy to get such happy praise :) I am glad that I'm showing good improvement and promise.

Juno: you're no newbie
Juno: I've seen your work and it improved a lot if you asked me
me: weeee ty I try to improve
Juno: XD
me: I hope I'll be a competent animator soon
me: probably will take some months though
Juno: you know what my teacher said?
Juno: you should drop the IB lessons (IB = In between, filler frames between key frames)
me: o.O how does he know my skills?
Juno: I showed him
me: the walking macho man?
Juno: not just that
Juno: his suggestion was
Juno: you should take digital stuff instead
Juno: kasi magaling ka naman daw mag drawing e (because you are good at drawing anyway)
me: like flash or 3d?
Juno: flash
me: oh, I kind of wanted to go into those. I took a basic class in flash before but I felt so restricted with flash lol
me: I like the feeling of my hand holding a pencil and drawing on paper
Juno: you should only do that pag may self content ka na project (you should only do that if you have a self content project)
me: self content?
Juno: self project
Juno: kasi major step down sa pagiging artist ung IB eh (because IB is a major step down for an artist )
me: ah yeah, I think it is one of the lowest ranking in the animation industry
me: but its good to work all the way up, get a lot of experience
Juno: but there are ways to get around it
Juno: sobrang no brainer ang IB e (IB is a super no-brainer)
Juno: Mag DIP ka na lang d2 (you should do DIP here instead)
me: DIP?
Juno: Digital ink and paint
Juno: or background artist
Juno: at least pag background pwede kita i-train (at least I can train you in background art)

First of all, I just started training in Holy Cow, a local animation company, this week. The owner happened to be a friend of my sister so thats how I got introduced. It is fun, a little tough but I'm learning and improving everyday. Its making me more and more serious on pursuing it as a career. I'm also thinking about buying or having a lightbox made so I can do animation at home. Though I don't get paid (but hey, not like I'm doing anything thats going to be actually used.), at least I don't need to pay for the training. And they are happy to train me in other fields like 3D or flash animation. Its all a good experience. I already saved some of my work for remembrance but they told me not to upload it anywhere because they haven't been aired yet lol
So with that, obviously I'm getting updated with the local animation industry. There's a much talked about local full length animation film that is going to be shown during manila film festival I think. Urduja. I think the quality of the animation, especially the landscape is really good, as well as the soundtrack. But I don't like the characters >< the humans look too much like rip offs from mulan and the animals look like they belong from a tv series. Can't comment (criticize) on the story yet as I have only seen the trailers lol Its great effort though :p
